On Friday September 26, 2008, the management of Fortis Luxembourg calls the Luxembourg Minister of Finance to inform him that the bank is on the verge of collapse due to the subprime crisis, which is threatening the survival of the Belgian group to which Fortis Luxembourg belonged. The situation is all the more dramatic in that another systemic bank in the financial center, Dexia-BIL, is also threatened with collapse. The Luxembourg government has one weekend to try and save the two Grand Ducal banks, to avoid a cataclysm that will affect the country's entire economy, individuals and businesses alike. Directed by Jossy Mayor and Laurent Moyse, “Crisis and Whispers” is the first documentary ever devoted to these events. It tells the story of this weekend of danger, through the exclusive testimonies of those - ministers, bankers and journalists - who lived it from the inside.
